Orange Spaghetti Lamp

DESCRIPTION: Orange lucite-spun spaghetti screw-in retro lamp.

DIMENSIONS: 29" around (a basketball is 29 1/2" around)

FLAWS: None. Mint.

NOTES: These spaghetti lamps from the '60s and '70s are so cool, and they're not as common as I thought because they're somewhat fragile and dent or break easily. This one is a little different than the hanging lamps that pop up on occasion - it has a male socket that screws into a light bulb socket (and then the bulb screws in on the inside). If it doesn't make sense, take a look at the pictures, which are self-explanatory.

EXAMPLES:
Once again, if in Chicago, one can visit the hippest music venue in the city, The Empty Bottle, and see a spaghetti lamp above the bar.

This lamp reminds me of the psychedelic movement in the late '60s. Here's a great track by Count Five from 1966:

Green Hollywood Regency Hanging Lamp

DESCRIPTION: Beautiful Hollywood Regency-styled vintage hanging lamp. Solid brass hardware. Original electrical wiring and hardware. Pull-chain on/off. Oblong green "cracked" glass.

DIMENSIONS: 27 1/2” circumference/around at largest point; approximately 21” tall (from tip of hardware to tip of hardware)

FLAWS: Cosmetically, none, except that the hanging chain has light rust on it. There is no question the chain will hold, and it also gives it character – or you can replace it inexpensively for a newer look.

The wiring/electrical is temperamental. It is a pull-chain, so once on, you can opt to plug it in for power instead of using the pull-chain to do so. Otherwise, I would recommend rewiring and replacing the bulb socket (how to do this inexpensively is shown below).

Rewire a lamp? It’s much cheaper and easier than one might think. You can pick up the necessary tools and materials at Home Depot for under $10 (or the same type at Amazon) and perform the task in under 30 minutes. Though this video is for a standing lamp, the basics are the same.

DESCRIPTION: Beautiful Hollywood Regency-styled vintage hanging lamp. Solid brass hardware. Original electrical wiring and hardware – IN WORKING CONDITION. On/off switch on wiring (not pull-string). Amber-colored glass “globe.”

DIMENSIONS: 32” circumference/around; approximately 19” tall (from tip of hardware to tip of hardware)
